Job Duties
The duties of ADC driver include:
- Pick participants up from their residence, safely transport to the day center in the morning and return them to their residence at the end of the day
- Use good judgment and safe driving skills while being courteous to participants.
- Communicate with program management to report any problems or delays.
- Document trips, including names of passengers and destination of pick-up and drop-off points.
- Maintain the vehicle’s appearance and notify the manager if the vehicle requires servicing
- Transport participants safely to and from scheduled activity outings.
- Assist with direct care of participants when not driving.
Job Requirements
*High school diploma/GED, and at least for two (2) years, either full-time or an equivalent, experience as a driver of persons
*At least 21 years of age and have a current valid driver license to operate the transportation vehicle, to which they are assigned.
* Certification in CPR and first aid.
* Valid Mississippi driver license and access to reliable transportation.
* Ability to function independently without constant supervision/observation.
* Physical ability to perform tasks required.
* Ability to recognize signs of abuse, neglect, and/or exploitation; ability to follow procedures required when working with vulnerable adults.
* Knowledge of how to respond, falls, fires, and knowledge of emergency numbers for contacting emergency personnel if required.
* Absence of communicable diseases as verified by a physician.
*Interest in, and empathy for, individuals who are ill, elderly, and/or disabled; and social interaction with participants.
*Emotional maturity and ability to respond to individuals and situations in a responsible manner.
*Good communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to deal effectively, assertively and cooperatively with a variety of people.
* Absence of any criminal convictions related to violent crime and/or crime substantially related to the dependent population.
Job Responsibility
* Drivers must complete and submit to a Criminal Record Check
* Drivers must meet current state and federal motor carrier safety regulations and guidelines.
*Drivers must be trained in Passenger Assistance and Sensitivity, First Aid, CPR/AED, and Blood Borne Pathogens.
